LTD with 0 is not really surprising. Unfortunate, but not unexpected.

Otherwise the figures look ok. Falcon is still not going as well as I would have liked.

Thanks for posting the results.

Lousy month for locally built cars unfortunately, but I'm sure Holden are happy with their LWB sales, especially with the bias towards Caprice.

I saw lots of unsold new VEs at the Holden dealers. Would they be included in the Commodore figure? The Corolla and Camry outsold the Falcon. Also it must be the first time in many months that the Prado had outsold the Territory.

I don't know who added all that up but they are no accountant, should be:

Toyota 15,706
Holden 11,410
Ford 7,609

Sorry but it was bugging me LOL

Secondly though I wonder just what the people who crunch these numbers are doing about this, do they actually care or are they more worried about getting payed at the end of the week and partying all weekend.

I mean Holden outsold Ford on almost every car, the worst being the 4x2 Rodeo outselling the 4x2 Courier by a factor of 10:1 with Commodore by about 2:1 on Falcon, although the Focus did quite well only dropping 13 sales to the Astra. The main reason Territory still does so well against the Adventra is the simple fact that it has a 2WD derivative as opposed to Adventra's AWD only platform, I wonder though if Holden did a cheaper 2WD alternative would the Territory still hold as much ground then.

We have all pointed out or at least begun to realise that Fords advertising department leaves much to be desired, that's us, the consumer, if we can see this then why in all there so called wisdom can't these 'gurus' at Ford. I mean they are payed huge salaries to try to understand market trends and hit them early so as to get themselves recognised as a market leader or at the least a prefered product.

I honestly think it's time FHQ US came over and did some house cleaning, shake up the place so maybe then these lazy arrsed moochers might actually do what they are being payed to actually do.

Yes it's a slow day LOL :

Isn't the Ranger replacing the Courier? And its only been around for about a month so I wouldn't get too carried away with those poor figures. Ford do need to get their **** together though, the Ranger isn't even on the Australian Ford website.

A 2wd Adventra wagon would be pointless imo, as there would be no differences over a normal Commodore wagon, except having Calais trim levels and possibly offering the V8 insetad of that shithouse V6. So even if they did offer a 2wd 'Adventra' (or a Calais wagon), I don't think it would hurt Territory sales.

They are official figures which include every model for each brand. I haven't put every model up which will explain the difference.

So yes my figures are correct. :

And the last people you want cleaning out Ford Aust is Ford US! They need our help. If Falcon/ Fairlane were able to be exported there they would somewhat be fixed. Not to mention all the top European Fords they refuse to import.

And they launched it 8k overpriced. Was quoted 40 k drive away. I believe they have corrected it now due largely to Mazda not playing ball as agreed.

Very sad times ahead....

Falcon is in trouble, not major though. We will see Orion for certain, but beyond that, unless Ford Aus develop a sustainable export program for Falcon, who knows ???

It's just a shame the new front end looks crap!

It just shows how poor the knowledge of car buyers have when they purchase cars, when the cr@p Barina outsells the excellent Fiesta almost 2 to 1.

Is it just me or do the mazda bt50 and ford's ranger still look like late 90's designs compared to new navara/rodeo/hilux/triton????. Personally they will be lucky to sell 50 a month. Good to see aurion not doing much but astra and barina tell a sad story of peoples very sad car knoledge when compared to fiesta/focus. Maybe ford can take note on statesman caprice sales that if you build a desirable luxury lwb car they will sell. Christ i've seen more caprices getting around than bf 2's.

How can we write to Ford and complain about the non existant marketing? I mean it is becoming a joke, I never see anything advertised on TV. All I see is Holden, Toyota, Mazda and Hyandai's being advertised. WTF?

O.K. to answer this question for you and the other bloke:

Monthly sales figures are based on what is registered for that month. So this includes dealer demos, held over fleet sales, etc.

If you were to base the figures soley on private purchase only, it would probably paint a very different story, as from what I see, more and more private sales are going Falcons way, but fleets and companys seem to be picking up the Commos.

A lot of fleet and government purchases are Holdens in SA due to the manufacturer being here and the usual thing of the state supporting its own etc.... All of our police traffic vehicles are Commodores (99% of them) and Im sure that it not the case in Vic. But Holdens would sure count for a lot of fleet and govt buyers overall.

Another thing is that heaps of federal govt agencies which normally bought about a 70/30 Ford and Holden split have abandonded them and are now buying Toyotas, and small ones. Our work fleet has gone from about 30 Falcons and 10 Commodores to 3 Prius and 2 Corollas.

Many local governments who used to buy a LOT of Falcons are now going for Camrys and smaller Toyotas. And there are quite a few councils who wouldnt touch Holdens and only a year or so ago had huge fleets of Falcons including XR6 NAs due to their better resale. Now they are all gone.

That could account for some of the figures above, if this trend was nationwide to a reasonable degree.

Barina's lower price really helps in this segment, in which most customers are really price driven/constrained.

No doubt, but you need to be able to justify the investment to make a desirable LWB with enough sales. I doubt that could be done on Australia alone; Holden has the luxury of having healthy export markets.

It's just a shame the new front end looks crap!

You can effectively add Falcon + Territory and Commodore + Captiva because all these cars are vying for the same market in the end.

You Get

Falcon Platform: 3990 sales
Commodore + Captiva: 5448 sales
