It will be the VE. Not because it is particularly good. But because of the huge advertising budget that goes to Wheels mag.
I was reading a comparo the other day with the six cylinder VE, BF and Aurion. It would seem that even after the huge amount of $$$ the GM spent on the VE it is only as good as, not better, than the BF. It goes to show how far ahead of the game ford really is. Also why I bought a BF and not a commie. I was thinking the other day about how many fords I have owned. It stands at four now. First was a XC panel van with a 302 and a towing and sports pack. Then a XC with a 351, FMX, tow pack and sports pack. Both were bought brand new. Now we have the LX Fiesta and BF XR8. All of these cars have (and are) serveing me faultlessly. I think that I am getting one blue eye in the middle of my fore head.

I agree, that front end is very aggressive! But I dont think it will win. I dont think it has been a stand out year. The VE mightn't get it because of those recalls, but its wheels so it probably will still win. I think the CX-7 will win, pretty classy IMO, and priced very well; Mazda is on a role aswell. The Q7 is nice, but probably not worth the $$$ I assume. Would love to Porsche to win too, anything that is Porsche, and is cheaper than a 911 and not a slouch gets my sentimental vote..LOL edit: forgot to mention, the 3 series coupe, is that the twin turbo version? If so thats in with a good chance too, beautiful car.

Given the thread starters affiliation with Toyota, I would imagine they are sprouting an Aurion win... (Maybe inside knowledge?) Thats the only thing that will stop the VE unfortunately....

a few of those cars would equally in their own rights be a deserving COTY winner |

unfrotunately, i think the ve, as mentioned before, it will be because of the advertising budget. i honestly thibnk its an ugly looking thing as its just a euro design with the old pontiac/chev motor that the amrericans no longer want imo. just a normal aust gmh product. why isnt the falcon in the list? i think its a better product seeing as we are now building our own blocks to put in and not having them built overseas, plus with all the added saftey features following the designs of big name sports cars, why wouldnt it have a chance?!

Every brand new Commodore series has won previously, and we all know that it's Holden's "1 Billion Dollar Baby" but all the magazines have mentioned questionable build quality - or some quality issues. Quite potentially the cars downfall as Aurion is quite strong here. But then again the Aurion is derived off the Camry platform - the VE Commodore is a brand new platform in itself. |

^ Every Magna has won too - and from the judges comments last year, had MMAL put a little more thought into the 380's hard plastics and price (and for sales - lets face it, RWD or AWD), it may have walked away with the prize instead of the MX-5.

I reckon the Aurion will get it. Wheels will be googaa that it is claimed most fuel efficient as is most powerful base model Aussie large car. They'll also like the complimentary suspenders and APIA discount card in the glove box.
