Default How were the Tickford XR6s and XR8s built?

I'm trying to get a handle on Tickford's role in the AU XR6s and 8s.

Basically, what part did Tickford play in their creation?

Did they sit down with the Ford guys and sketch out what to do, then the Ford guys did it in the Ford factory, or did cars get sent to Tickford to work their magic?

If so, what state were the cars in when they got shipped to Tickford? Did Tickford bolt on the bodykit and fiddle with the engine? Did they put the engine in from the start?

Just really curious how an AU XR6 or XR8 began its life and what exactly Tickford did to it. I'm sure many of you will know. Thanks in advance

The cars were taken to Tickfords were they fitted the bodykit, suspenion, wheels MOMO stuff & sunroof's.
Ford had them as a full car Tickford removed anything it was replacing & sent it back to Ford.
Once the car was complete, Tickford trucked it to the selling dealer.

So I'm reading through it and although there's some mentions to the car I'm buying - an AUII XR6 VCT - it's not in the list as a Tickford. Is this an example of the cars mentioned in the intro that carry the Tickford wings, but aren't considered "real" Tickfords by some people's point of view?

The AU XR6's are mentioned under the 2001 AUII XR8 heading.

Ahhh, gotcha. Where I went wrong, I think, is that I was working by headings and the one I think you mean says "2001 AU Series II Falcon XR8 220kW" whereas I was looking for a heading that said "2000". Conversely, the text itself does mention the AUII kicking off in 2000. Cool.

The bit that I'm still confused by is that if the 2000 XR6 VCT is regarded as a vehicle with Tickford involvement, why it's not in the list at the top of the page? Or am I reading it wrong somehow? :

Yes....that list. It is based off the FPV website. Interestingly the AU XR6 utes are mentioned but the sedans aren't. I won't elaborate into the possibilities because I'm not too sure what the story is there.

Gotcha - no problem. I'll have to have a dig around and see why. It's intriguing... but that's just the journalist in me, rearing its head. You guys will get used to it

I had an AU1 XR8 that had a Tickford plate under the bonnet citing bodykit & alloys added by Tickford & my AU VCT Fairmont Ghia has a Tickford badge proudly adorning the front of the engine bay. Even my previous AU2 XR8 200kw had the hand built engine Tickford badge on the rocker cover.
