i think youd be doing well to get 12k.
a little more info might make a pricing easier though.

if you think you can get more than 10k then do it, and do it soon.
its a buyers market and cars are worth jack. aussie cars are worth even less.
i recently bought a 03 BA Fairmont for $12650.

You can get what someone is willing to pay. For a 2000/2001 AU2 XR6, you will be pushing 5hi7 up hill just to get $10k, but good luck. You haven't actually done that many mods, and the mods you have done are pretty standard ones worth not much at all when it comes time to resell:

Factory Options
− Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel
− XR Floor Mats

Engine / Driveline Modifications
− 2.5" Sports Exhaust With Twin Pipe Tip
− Pacemaker Extractors, K&N Air Filter

Multimedia / Audio Modifications
− Kenwood mp3 Head Unit,
− Clarion Splits In Front & Pioneer 5x7's In The Rear,
− 12" JL Audio Sub.

I recently tried to sell my A3 Fairmont Ghia V8 with 80,000k's on it, small amount of mods and could not even get 16k for it, this even included over 4k worth of audio/visual gear!!!.

Thats 52k plus 6k worth of add on's (58k), 4 years old and not even worth 16k.

Decided to put it on gas, pump some more $$$'s into mods and keep it..... To good a car to sell for 16k.

I know Fords and Holdens have bad re-sale but come on, 40k+ loss after 4 years you have to be joking!!!!

(By the way, I bought the car 1 year old with 12,000km's for 36k, so I cant complain too much!!).

Good luck if you decide to sell it.

Regards

I bought my AU3 Feb 2002 Ghia (4L) 12 months ago with 80,000ks for $11,000.
Perfect car, all services performed, not a mark on it.

My wife has the "good" car so I was just looking for something under $20k to run around in.
I've become very fond of it in the 12 months I've had it. I think it will do me for a few years yet...

Market is really bad with selling an AU,Ive spent ridicilous amounts of money on my Au forte,Mods include 19inch wheels,Suspension and sway bar work,Custom interior,Ts50 front and rear bars plastic ones not cheapo fiberglass,Engine mods hawkwing,Resprayed in 2pac monsoon black with extra blue metallic flakes and the best i got was 8k and the ****er pulled out due to not being able to get finance. So ill be keeping it and its going up on bricks and looks like ill be turboing it and keeping it.What amazes me is peoples response with ohh well youll never get back what you spent so they try crunch your price. If they were to buy a stock falcon 99 au it will cost them 6 to 7k then they spend heaps of money modifying it.I was selling my car for 9k and all i got were price crunchers.I hate selling cars and im starting to think was buying an AU a wrong choice?

Being a QLD'er you've got scope to make your 6 a bit of a weapon and get the blue plate to make it all legal. Supercharged or turbocharged, it'll go very nicely with some work. With the money it would cost on changeover to a BA, you've have a real animal. CAPA do kits for $6-7K, fit them yourself if you're not useless under the bonnet.

I'll just echo some of these comments. Unless you are super-keen and absolutely one-minded about getting the MKII Turbo, I'd stick with what you have and really enjoy it, because trying to get rid of it now is just going to make you feel cheated on price. Best case scenario is finding a really keen afficianado who respects the mods and getting 14K-ish in a private sale. But that would be a RARE situation.

It's simple really, hasn't changed since man invented the car.
Being they are a large investment really plays with the human brain, we think too much, especially being enthusiast's...
We all think they are worth more because we hug them like tree huggers and should be rewarded because we service them and repair everything and anything !
Unfortunately the market doesn't think like that.
A loss is a loss, when you put the foot down on your next pride and joy do you really worry about the thousands lost ?
You have a grin from ear to ear and tell your mates your rapt and should have done it sooner lol.....

Either spend more on the bottomless pit or start all over again on the next bottomless pit, same result just different carcass lol...

I looked into selling mine as well, but it's worth SFA, so it's worth more to hang on to it than it is to sell or trade. It sucks, but I guess them are the breaks. The only positive is that your Series 2 XR6, is still worth more than an E-Series :

I bought my au2 xr6 vct for $10,000 a year ago, originaly knowing that it would be worth sfa by now, and resale on biggers cars is only getting worse as fuel prices still rise.
I bought my car with the intentions of maybe keeping it a few years , and to me thats worth $10,000 providing it's reliable etc ( and it has been ), and if it dies or rust away after that then so be it. I forked out thousands on my old XE years ago and went through exactelly what alot of people complain about now , probably why i haven't been so quick to rush out and buy extras for this car - all the AU series look pretty clean/nice stock too anyway imo.!

AU's are next to worthless now and lets face it mods mostly reduce the trade in as the car appeals to only a select few like us on AFF.

I suggest you save up hard and sell privately. Maybe someone is prepared to pay over the odds or doesn't know what they are worth.

to give you an idea I have been offered $5k for my wagon which I have spent double that on mods and boght new for $40k odd.

The AU isn't a must have car even the brilliant XR8 220 and T Series aren't getting much resale value

You know, for those of us who buy second hand, sometimes I think we protest too much. If I lose 10K in value on my XR6 over the next 5 or 6 years, it's still not quite the same as the original owner losing 30K-plus over his 5 or 6 years with it. Like some of these guys here, I've bought in at a low price point, and it's only going to get lower... but the car itself looks nice, runs well and will be great transport for the next however long. You just can't get too hung up on car values, in my book.

Your spot on , thats why i didn't mind paying 10,000 for what i got when i got it , cos' to me its worth 10,000 for a few years of service to me anyway , even if it falls apart after that. But yes i do feel sorry for the people who bought these cars new only a few years ago and are loosing around 30k, the main reason why i wont spend more than 10k on a car these days , so no new cars for me ..lol

Well, not Falcons anyway.

I think unless someone is an utter Ford nut, wants a very rare set of specs, wants to keep the car for 15-20 years, or is somehow able to trade out of it in about 12 months, buying a new Falcon is just... crazy.

When I was picking up the VCT from the dealership, I commented to the guy, "This is a LOT of car for the money... for the same money I could have... hmmmm... that Astra over there..." and I pointed at an Astra that was $14,990.

And, when you think about it like that, it's really obscene how far Falcons depreciate, compared to some other cars.
