My brother-in-law (au2) is having horn issues(!) and has been told that he needs a clock spring.
Ebay has this link as a clock spring but I don't think it's right (isn't that a combination switch?) http://tinyurl.com/2au4wq If that isn't a clock spring does anyone know what it looks like and approximate cost ex-Ford? |

Ron - that pic on ebay is what the click spring plugs into, but it's also not the clock spring. The clock spring is the bit that sits directly under where the airbag sits. It is a round piece of plastic that clips into the steering column, and contains a woundup ribbon cable that has some slack in it to enable it to move from side to side. I have one in the garage somewhere, and will see if I can get a pic (unless I threw it out!).

Thanks guys, I didn't think the ebay thing was right.
Don't go to any trouble JC, he'll grab one from Ford or a wrecker, thanks mate. Well George, after all the huff and puff we decided that he'd have my XR suspension and I'll use the touring suspension. So far, the stuff has made it from his place to my shed, where it awaits the completion of my audio upgrade ...for the last eight days swine Autobarn have had a double din facia on the way from Aerpro in Melbourne. Should have ordered direct :( |

about the cost for the clock spring I rang ford a couple of days ago up here at caboolture and the cost quoted to me was $160.00 tax free, and from the local wreckers $131.00. but I didn't need it thank god. I was having troubles with my horn going of all the time, it turned out to be the air bag. the auto electrician said that the horn buttons get stuck between the airbag and the horn pad. hope this helps out
