unfortunately, since ef there has been no dip stick for trans, there is a level bung (similar to that of a diff) on the drivers side of the box, about half way up. this is because ford believe that the box should only be serviced when required and you shouldnt need to check levels as "they dont leak"! we all know thats a load of bs as seals do wear out, my advice though is, check under the car, if you see wet marks at the rear of the box, then check your levels, if not, i wouldnt stress about it too much.

Actually it was done because too many people were overfilling their autos causing them to blow. Ford got sick of the warranty claims, so don't blame ford for stupid customers. :

Funny the local ford bloke at batemans bay (when I was there on holidays) told me there was no need to service, no listing in the owners manual for it and they were fairly bullet proof. I laughed at him went to repco and bought the kit and 20l of trans fluid and flushed it out myself. Dead set a lot cheaper then a rebuild since the auto had 100k on it when I got it and I didn't know how it was treated before (being an XR8 probably not the kindest) and certianly not as hard as I was going to fang it.

you can fit an earlier BTR dipstick to them most cabs have this mod done so they can be checked and of course toped up if the leak and get low on saturday night as thats when problems happen ( when the money is flowing) don't want the car stopped due to low fluid
